Lighting
Light can be one of the most important parts of your wedding day. Our getting ready house has lots of lights on every floor, and diffused panels on our window curtains so that even harsh natural light appears soft. The makeup and hair bar upstairs has plenty of mirrors and the windows were placed to create nice light all day long.
Space
The thing that most people overlook is the amount of space you really need – we know it’s approx. 6sqft per person. With three floors in our getting ready house, you’ll find all the space you need. There is a downstairs bar space with couches and TVs, and then the middle shared floor with a kitchen and restroom and more seating. The upper floor is designed for makeup and hair, and has a private bedroom plus restroom for getting dressed.
Think of how many people will likely be in the room – your side of the wedding party, probably a couple of parents, hair and makeup team, photographer, videographer …. it can get crowded pretty quick.
The room not only has ample space for people to sit, but there is enough space for supply tables (hair and makeup have a lot of things to spread out and use).
There is plenty of space for snacks and drinks (even a fridge for your drinks and your floral to be stored in before ceremony), and for people to put their things without it feeling cluttered, and the house also has two restrooms – one on the shared center floor and one on the upper floor.
There is also plenty of space for you to get dressed – and space for your dresses or suits to be hung up and unbagged (it helps the fabric relax before wearing).

Room Color
Yep, this is important too. Color, especially strong colors, tend to cause what is called a “cast” onto lighter colors – like dresses and even some skin tones. That cast can alter how those colors appear in photos, and using our lighting can only correct it so much – especially if the actual light in the room is a totally different color temperature (some light is cool and some is warm).
Our room colors are planned with this in mind. The lower floor has dark gray walls, wood touches, and then a white ceiling (perfect for your photographer to use as a bounce for their flash). The upper floors are white with gray accents.
Outlets, MIRRORS, tables and chairs
Your getting ready room space needs to have lots of outlets, in easily accessible spaces. There will be steamers, straighteners, hair dryers, curling irons, lighted mirrors, makeup lights, clothing irons and so much more to be plugged in.
We have a space specifically designated on the top floor for hair and makeup with chairs and table space and access to outlets. We also have several mirrors throughout the getting ready house (not just in the bathrooms).
Throughout the bottom and middle floor there are tables, chairs, and couches for people to hang out while they wait or get dressed.
